Turkish Prime Minister at the UN High Level Climate Meeting

Turkish Prime Minister H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan will attend the UN High Level Event on Climate Change on 24 September 2007. Mr. Erdoğan will deliver a speech at Thematic Plenary -II - Mitigation around 12:00 o'clock New York time. Turkey also attended the Thematic Debate on 31 July - 1 August 2007, which was convened as a preparatory step for the UN High Level Segment. In her speech at the debate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that relevant government institutions are in the process of discussing Turkey's accession to the Kyoto Protocol, Turkey wishes to host CDM projects in the pott-2012 period - based on her position that is different than other Annex-I parties and Turkey supports participation of rapidly developing countries in the international efforts on climate change - on the condition that relevant support mechanisms are cretaed as well. 2 new articles in international journals on Turkey and climate change

In the June August 2007 issue of Green Horizon, the official publication of Regional Environmental Center (REC), REC Turkey's supports to Turkey's climate challenge are explained. In July 2007 issue of Joint Implementation Quarterly (JIQ), basic discussions of a panel meeting organized by Turkish Association for Energy Economics on 5 June 2007 is reported. The article provides a brief summary of the discussions which focus on options for Turkey's involvement in the Kyoto Protocol in the first commitment period and in the post-2012 period. Turkish official climate change documents are available online

Following Turkey's accession to the UNFCCC in 2004, pursuant to 26/CP7 of COP7 in 2001, Turkey has started to fulfill her commitments as an Annex-I Party to the UNFCCC.

In line with the provisions of Article 4.2.b of the UNFCCC, Turkey has submitted her first national communication to the UNFCCC Secretariat in February 2007. Please click to access the document.

Turkey's first GHG Inventory was also prepared in 2006 and final version of the inventory was submitted in January 2006. The inventory involves data an emissions and removals of GHG in the period 1990-2004. Please click to access the document.

Turkish VER Projects applying for Gold Standard

Within the scope of REC Turkey's mission to facilitate access to the access to and exchange of information on climate change, the Project Design Documents (PDDs) of Voluntary/Verified Emission Reduction (VER) projects that are applying for Gold Standard are made available in this website.

Any comments, critics or views for the below mentioned projects shall be communicated with their respective validators or project owners.

Since this is a voluntary support, these announcements shall not be considered as a kind of an official, technical or administrative approval of these projects. REC Turkey is also not responsible related to the above mentioned procedures by anyhow.
